Chint Solar completes solar parks in Leek, Kampen and Markelo

21 November 2021

Chint Solar has successfully completed solar parks in Leek, Kampen and Markelo. The three solar parks provide a total of 54 MWp and supply sustainable energy to more than 15,000 households.

The permits for the solar parks were arranged by PowerField, after which Chint Solar took on their further development and realization. The three parks were commissioned in the fall of 2021, and are connected to Enexis’s grid. The portfolio of a total of 54 MWp is now owned by Blue Elephant Energy.

Solar park Leek

Solar park Leek is located north of the A7 highway, near Leek and Tolbert. It has been realized on land reserved by the municipality for the expansion of the Leeksterveld business park. Almost 53,000 solar panels have been installed on the approximately 22-hectare site. The 28.6 MWp solar park provides green energy to approximately 9,000 households. The landscaping takes into account sightlines and existing landscape elements.

Solar park Kampen

The Kampen solar park is located in the Koekoekspolder near IJsselmuiden. The area consists of a former greenhouse area and is divided between two parcels. The 11.8-hectare solar park produces 19.4 MWp and provides sustainable energy to around 5,900 households in the region.

Solar park Markelo
The Markelo solar park was realized on the site of a former asylum seekers’ center in the hamlet of Herike-Elsen in the municipality of Hof van Twente, which had not been used since 2012. The park’s surface area covers almost 5 hectares. The 6.5 MWp solar park provides green energy to approximately 2,000 households.

The park also offers plenty of opportunities for nature. Special nesting baskets have been installed for birds of prey, and the raised fencing allows small wildlife to pass without any problems.

Contribution to achieving sustainability ambitions

Oliver Schweininger, Managing Director/CEO of Chint Solar Europe: “Chint Solar is working on a future of sustainable and clean energy in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. We are therefore extremely proud that the solar parks in Leek, Kampen and Markelo can make important contributions to achieving the sustainability ambitions of the municipalities of Westerkwartier, Kampen, and Hof van Twente. In total, the three solar parks provide sustainable energy to more than 15,000 households. That is a big step in the right direction. We would like to thank all local authorities, contractors, project partners, and advisors for their cooperation and their contribution to the realization of the solar parks.”
