North of the De Ekers business park in Joure, Sinnefjild de Ekers has been realized. The solar field produces renewable energy for about 4,600 households on an annual basis. The solar park is operational since the second quarter of 2023.
Sinnefjild de Ekers contributes to ecological added value and the strengthening of biodiversity. Green edges and new water courses with natural banks have been created, trees and shrubs have been planted and the soil has been sown with a herb-rich grass mixture. In addition, a cart track has been created, which serves as a footpath and bridleway for local detours.
Sinnefjild de Ekers should become a flywheel for further sustainability in the municipality of De Fryske Marren. Local residents and companies located on the adjacent business park could therefore benefit from various sustainability initiatives such as the purchase of solar panels at cost price.
