Solar park Buinerveen, located at the Paardetangendijk in Buinerveen, was commissioned in the fall of 2020. It consists of 110,000 solar panels installed on 40 hectares of land and provides green energy to roughly 14,000 households.

A first in the Netherlands

Bruinerveen is connected to solar park Stadskanaal via a private 33-kilovolt cable that is 13 kilometers long. The combined grid connection for the solar park in Stadskanaal and Buinerveen is connected to the high-voltage grid. A combined grid connection for two solar parks is a first in the Netherlands. That required thorough and careful preparations in terms of regulations as well as technology.

Smart solution

The technology and component selection of solar park Buinerveen is characterized by the major restrictions in terms of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) guidelines for the area in which it was realized. Chint Solar therefore developed a project-specific DC filter and took additional measures to stay within the EMC limits set for the project. The complex and customized EMC-emissions-reduction solution was first tested in an external laboratory and then on site.

The solar park – initiated by PowerField – was developed and realized by Chint Solar. In addition to the solar park itself, Chint Solar also had to develop and construct the grid connections. In the implementation phase, Chint Solar acted as the main EPC contractor, coordinated various contractors, and was responsible for the grid integration and compliance with local requirements.
